Running conditions were better than for previous meets and the terrain was more diverse as the Greene County Rams hosted their invitational cross country meet at Spring Lake park northeast of Jefferson Thursday. The girls finished sixth of nine teams and the boys finished ninth of nine team.
Olivia Hansen and Emily Finch both medaled, and every Ram on the girls team set a personal record. Hansen finished the race in eighth place with a time of 22:09.1. Finch was 12th with a time of 22:31.1. Other finishes were Melanie Doran, 52nd, 25:36.8; Sunny Mobley, 72nd, 28:13.1; Regan Lamoureux, 75th, 28:18.3; Emma Larson, 96th, 30.29.3; Emily Most, 97th, 30:31; and Caytlyn Adamson, 108th, 34:12.1. Many of those times are 1.5 minutes better than the girls’ previous records.
Team scores for the girls were Denison 30, Winterset 52, Algona 92, Creston 106, Nevada 161, Greene County 170, Roland-Story 176, Kuemper (Carroll) 203 and Perry 234.
Kane Borgeson finished first of the Ram boys in 25th place with a personal record time of 19:28.8. Two other Rams set PRs: Nick Killion at 21:17 at 53rd in the race and Nathan Kennedy at 23:41.7 at 113th in the race. Other finishes were Michael Eischeid, 22.50.8, 102nd; Ben Wilkins, 23:28.5, 110th; and Jacob Heuser, 30:53.2, 152nd.
Team scores for the boys were Winterset 35, Nevada 76, Kuemper 87, Roland-Story 91, Algona 135, Creston 143, Denison 154, Perry 240 and Greene County 250.
